We’ll work as partners to come up with a solid plan going forward, and we’ll make sure I understand your goals. We’ll go through an outline, several chapters, an early draft and a revision together. I want you as involved as you’d like to be—and comfortable with the process as well as the outcome. Typically, I prefer a slow start whereby I charge my hourly rate, because we’re still getting a sense for the story and how we work together. Once we’ve really dug in, have a few chapters ready, and we’ve built some trust, then we can figure out the costs going forward from there.
